FC Barcelona have had their sights on Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva for a long time now.
The Portuguese international had been a key target for the club for multiple summers, especially when Xavi Hernandez was manager.
The interest appeared to have died down once Hansi Flick took over as the manager back in 2024, but turns out that the Catalans might still be looking at the 31-year-old midfielder.
Indeed, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t SPORT), Barcelona are still monitoring Silva as he appears set to leave Manchester City this summer.
The Portuguese veteran is in the final few months of his contract at the Etihad Stadium, and all indications suggest that he will not continue at the club. At 31, he is looking for a fresh challenge after a highly successful period in England.

In this scenario, Juventus have emerged as a strong option for Silva. The Bianconeri’s sporting management has been monitoring the player for some time and, with the possibility of him becoming a free agent, is now prepared to make a significant effort to convince him.
However, as per the report, in addition to Juventus, other major clubs are closely monitoring his situation, including Barcelona and Benfica.
Meanwhile, Silva also has offers from emerging leagues and financially powerful markets such as Saudi Arabia and Major League Soccer. Competition for his signature is high, and a resolution is not expected until at least the end of April.
The Portuguese midfielder views the Juventus interest positively, although he has not yet made a final decision. His intention is to change environment and carefully choose his next destination, in what could be one of the final major contracts of his career.
Signing a player of Silva’s experience and quality for free would be a market opportunity. But there simply does not appear to be space for him in this current Barcelona setup, and the Catalans have other important priorities in the market.
