FC Barcelona lost one of their most important defenders, Inigo Martinez, in the last summer transfer window, and there could be another surprise change in the Blaugrana defense next summer.

This seems to be the case as two defenders from the Catalan team, Alejandro Balde and Gerard Martin, are being linked with a move away, and it remains to be seen how this matter will develop.

In such a context, SPORT reports that Barcelona are actively preparing for all scenarios and is monitoring the market closely. The club wants to ensure that if either Balde or Martin leaves, a high-quality replacement is ready. Three players are currently being evaluated.

The first is Alejandro Grimaldo from Bayer Leverkusen. The full-back already has a connection with Barcelona from his youth career and could make an immediate impact. He is valued at no more than €15 million, fitting well within the club’s budget and tactical plans under Hansi Flick.

Another option is Juventus defender Cambiaso. The Italian international offers a strong balance of offensive and defensive qualities and brings valuable experience at a high level. However, his valuation of around €30 million and interest from Manchester City could complicate a potential deal.

Lastly, Lewis Hall caught Barcelona’s eye during the Champions League clash with Newcastle United. The English full-back is praised for his defensive solidity and stamina, but his €30 million price tag and Newcastle’s reluctance to sell make him a challenging option.

Barcelona has faced similar situations in the past. Last summer, Gerard Martin nearly left the club after an offer from Wolverhampton, but he ultimately chose to stay. The upcoming summer could present a similar scenario, with the club remaining open to transfers if offers are favorable. Any move, however, will depend on available resources and squad planning.

For now, the Catalans remain cautious but proactive, carefully evaluating their options to ensure stability in one of the team’s key defensive positions.
