In the last few months, FC Barcelona have been linked with several defenders as this was one of the areas of the team that was not reinforced by the Blaugrana team in the last summer transfer window.
The Catalans have been linked with several center-backs, which is understandable after the departure of Inigo Martinez. Meanwhile, they have also been linked with the Colombian right-back Daniel Munoz, who is currently playing for the Premier League side Crystal Palace.
The 29-year-old defender has become one of the standout performers for both his club and the Colombian national team, earning widespread recognition for his energy, attacking support, and defensive reliability.
Since joining the London side at the start of 2024, Munoz has consistently impressed in one of the most demanding leagues in Europe, attracting the attention of several top-tier clubs.
According to reports from Fichajes, Crystal Palace are in no hurry to sell and would only consider negotiating if an offer of around €30 million arrives. Munoz is under contract with the English club until June 2028, giving Palace a strong position in any talks.
This figure represents a significant potential investment for FC Barcelona, especially given the club’s current financial limitations.
Munoz has previously expressed his admiration for Barcelona, admitting that he has followed the Catalan club since his early years. That emotional connection could play a role if negotiations progress, but Palace’s firm stance means that La Blaugrana will have to make a substantial financial effort if they want to secure his services.
From a sporting perspective, there is little doubt that Munoz would strengthen Barcelona’s defensive options. His experience in England, combined with his attacking instincts and physical presence, makes him an appealing fit for La Liga.
However, with Jules Kounde already established as a dependable option on the right side of defense, and considering Eric Garcia’s resurgence, the Catalan club must evaluate whether spending €30 million on another right-back is the best use of their resources.
Ultimately, the decision will depend on Barcelona’s ability to balance sporting needs with financial realities. Munoz’s quality is not in question, but the price tag attached to his name could prove to be the decisive factor in determining whether this potential transfer moves beyond speculation.
