La Liga giants Barcelona have been afforded the opportunity to sign one of the most highly-regarded up-and-coming talents in South America.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Neiser Villarreal as the player in question.
Villarreal, for his part, is a 19-year-old attacker, who generally lines out at centre-forward.
The Colombian recently turned heads across Europe, after securing the top-scorer prize at the South American U20 Championships.
Amongst the clubs to have had their attentions piqued are the likes of Porto, Newcastle United, and Watford.
As alluded to above, though, it is Barcelona who appear to boast the advantage when it comes to Villarreal’s potential signing.
As per a report from Sport:
‘Barça are very attentive to everything that happens around the footballer with a lot of potential for growth. An intermediary has called the Ciutat Esportiva to offer his services and the sporting management, with Deco at the helm, is analysing the situation and what scenarios are open.’
Villarreal’s terms with current club Millonarios are due to expire in December, with the goalscorer having made clear that he has no intention of penning a new deal.
