One of Barcelona’s top priorities in the upcoming summer transfer window is to secure the signing of a left-footed centre-back.

But amid difficult negotiations with Inter Milan surrounding top target Alessandro Bastoni, the club are already looking at other options in the market, having already been linked with quite a few of them.

The likes of Micky van de Ven or even Cristian Romero are being considered as potential alternatives for Bastoni. But a fresh name has joined the list.

Barcelona offered the chance to sign Natan

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have been offered a market opportunity to sign Brazilian defender Natan Bernardo de Souza.

Currently plying his trade for Real Betis, Natan has been an integral figure in Manuel Pellegrini’s defensive line this season, notably racking up almost 3,500 minutes of competition action this season.

However, Real Betis are now ready to sell Natan, just a year after they signed him from Napoli for just €9 million. That is the club acknowledge the defender’s value has risen and they are now looking to cash in.

Real Betis have already rejected quite a few offers for Natan in the winter transfer window, with the report stating that the player is being courted by several Premier League clubs.

Natan was an option for Carlo Ancelotti, too, when he was at Real Madrid. But the team ended up signing Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth.

Barcelona, meanwhile, may have an excellent opportunity to sign a talented Brazilian defender who wants to remain in La Liga despite the interest from the Premier League.

The report suggests Natan is valued at around €35 million, which is half of Inter’s asking price for Bastoni. But there could be room for negotiations and the fee could potentially drop to €30 million.
