The goalkeeper and the left wing are the two positions that FC Barcelona are looking to reinforce with the highest priority in this upcoming summer transfer window.
For the former, the Blaugranes are quite close to completing the signing of the RCD Espanyol goalie Joan Garcia, while for the latter, the Catalans are now heavily linked with Nico Williams.
But in addition to these positions, it looks likely that Barcelona will also try to reinforce their flanks, even though this was not one of the priorities for the Blaugrana club previously. In this regard, they are already reported to be making rapid progress in the operation to sign the Brazilian fullback Vanderson.
Meanwhile, Fichajes reports that the Catalans are also interested in the Almeria fullback Marc Pubill, despite him having played in the second division last season.
The 21-year-old defender has established himself as a key part of this Almeria team. Although he was unable to help his side get promoted to the first division last season, he still remains a highly sought-after talent in his position, mostly because of his tactical maturity and ability to regularly join the attack.
Barcelona believe Pubill will fit in perfectly with their short and medium-term plans, and his signing would strengthen one of the weaker areas of their team.
Meanwhile, Almeria are also aware of the value of their prized asset, and are not willing to part ways with him for less than €15 million.
The player, a native of the Barcelona region, is also looking forward to returning to his home, and would do his part to facilitate a move if the two clubs reach an agreement.
Although not a priority for now, this operation is gaining momentum at Barcelona, and the Catalans are already exploring ways to approach this signing. But for now, the Blaugranes will be focused mostly on completing Joan Garcia’s and a left winger’s signing, and it remains to be seen how this story develops for the future.
