La Liga giants Barcelona are closing on a high-profile addition to the club’s midfield ranks for the 2026/27 campaign.

This comes amid the understanding that the Blaugrana have all but tied up a deal for departing Manchester City star Bernardo Silva.

Versatile midfielder Bernardo is imminently set to enter the free agent market, upon the expiration of his contract terms at The Etihad.

A whole host of clubs from across the continent have in turn expressed an interest in bringing the Portuguese in over the weeks ahead.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Thursday is anything to go by, then a clear frontrunner appears to have emerged in the Bernardo sweepstakes.

As per a report from transfer journalist Gianluigi Longari, amid mounting reports of talks between the parties ramping up:

‘Barcelona are one step away from closing the deal for Bernardo Silva. Overcame the competition from all the other teams that had scouted the ex-Manchester City player.’
