Barcelona have a golden opportunity to claim the outright lead in La Liga as they face Osasuna at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys tonight.

A victory would see Hansi Flick’s side move three points ahead of Real Madrid and extend their gap over Atletico Madrid to seven points.

Beyond the title race, Barça also have a chance to achieve a historic feat—securing their longest winning streak in La Liga under Flick.

Chasing their own record

The Blaugrana’s best run this season stands at seven consecutive victories, stretching from their opening-day 2-1 triumph over Valencia to a narrow 1-0 home win against Getafe.

During that run, Barça accumulated 21 points from 21, scored 23 goals, and conceded only five. However, their momentum was halted in the reverse fixture against Osasuna at El Sadar on September 28.

That night, Flick decided to rotate his squad heavily, prioritising freshness for an upcoming Champions League clash against Young Boys.

Having lost their opening group-stage match to Monaco, the German manager wanted to ensure his strongest lineup for the Swiss side.

With a crucial Bayern Munich fixture also looming, the adjustments backfired as Barça dropped points against Osasuna.

Now, they have the perfect opportunity for redemption. This fixture, originally postponed due to the passing of Dr. Carles Minarro, offers Barcelona the chance to set a new club record under Flick—eight consecutive league wins.

However, the team will have to cope without key players, as Raphinha and Ronald Araujo will be unavailable following their international commitments.

Despite these absences, a win would not only put Barça in control of the title race but also send a strong statement of intent for the remainder of the season.
