There is no denying the fact that this was a rather slow summer for FC Barcelona. Even though the club has made progress in terms of signings, it has hardly been easy for them. In fact, Barcelona is still playing things relatively safely in that context.
So far this summer transfer window, the club has not exactly splashed the cash on any major transfer. While their rivals continue to strengthen their teams with expensive arrivals, Barça remains more invested in feasible targets and operations with advantageous conditions.
One possible reasoning for this could be that Barcelona are more interested in making a big signing next summer. Instead of going all out in this transfer window and overextending themselves, the club might just be working to plan for something bigger in the future.

In fact, according to Fichajes, Barcelona is already a massive transfer offer for next year when it comes to a certain La Liga superstar. Reportedly, the Catalan giants want Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, and they are ready to go big for him.
Next summer, as per this report, Barcelona is considering to make an offer worth around €90-100 million for the player. Yet, despite the significant value of that hypothetical offer, there is also the belief that Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone will do whatever it takes to retain their player.
Barcelona, on the other hand, is reportedly convinced that the club’s prestige and sporting project would be strong enough to entice the player. The 25-year-old Argentinean forward reportedly wants to remain in a prominent role no matter what team he plays for, and La Blaugrana could offer exactly that. Interestingly, his agent has also confirmed previously that even the player likes the Catalan club.
For now, however, Barça will likely rely on the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres, and potentially Marcus Rashford for quality when it comes to the centre-forward position. However, with Lewandowski now being 36 years old, it does not hurt to look ahead to the future.
