Barcelona president Joan Laporta appeared to leak a message of support from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) over the ongoing battle to re-register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

The pair, initially registered through temporary measures after Andreas Christensen's injury, saw their agreements expire on December 31 after Barcelona were unable to raise the required funds in time. League rules state players cannot be deregistered and re-registered in the same season.

Club officials remain in frantic talks to try and rectify the situation and there was an onrush of reports on Friday evening, beginning with a unanimous agreement across outlets that Barcelona have formally returned to La Liga's 1:1 spending rules after declaring the first €60m of their €120m VIP seats sale and moving back under their salary limit.

MARCA, however, state there has been no change in Olmo and Victor's situation, with La Liga continuing to argue that Barcelona have simply missed the deadline to re-register the pair.

That was followed up by SPORT, who note that Barcelona have once again contacted the RFEF to try and overrule La Liga's judgement.

With that in mind, Jijantes produced a screenshot of what is claimed to be Laporta's now-deleted WhatsApp story, in which an alleged statement from the RFEF appears to decree that La Liga's rule about re-registration cannot apply in this case.

"The RFEF, having heard the arguments of FCB, shares the same in that art. 130.2 RFEF Regulations is NOT applicable to the case of Olmo and Pau Victor, since, in that case, the loss of these players has occurred, not by the will of the club (which is what said article provides), but by factors outside and contrary to the will of the club," the statement reads.

"It is an undisputed fact that both the club and the players want to continue in the FCB squad for the entire season. This interpretation of the rule is consistent with the evident purpose of the article, which is precisely to promote the stability of the composition of the player squads."

Next up came RAC1's claim that Barcelona have received confirmation from La Liga that both Olmo and Victor will be registered again, before Mundo Deportivo disputed that argument by stressing that there is no agreement between club and league.

Barcelona are ready to escalate the situation to court, or even the Ministry for Sport, with Laporta also believed to be ready to offer a public update to fans in the coming days.
