Kees Smit of AZ Alkmaar is likely to be a hot topic in the summer transfer window, with the Dutch starlet on the radars of several top clubs across Europe.
Real Madrid have shown the most concrete interest in the Dutch prodigy so far, while teams from the Premier League have also expressed their liking towards him.
Moreover, FC Barcelona, too, were said to be tracking the 20-year-old youngster not so long ago, although things have gone quiet on that front, with the Catalans having other priorities for the summer.
Now, speaking in an interview with Supergaande on YouTube (h/t AS), Smit has revealed that he would prefer a move to La Liga over any other top leagues in Europe in the future.
“La Liga. Playing there would be great. I love the sun, I’m tired of playing in so much cold and rain, so I’d like to go and play in Spain,” Smit revealed.
Not stopping there, Smit went on to reveal that he watched a lot of La Liga growing up, mentioning Barcelona as the team he followed the most.

“I really enjoyed watching Barça. I grew up watching Iniesta and Messi play, who I consider two of my role models,” the youngster said, giving a nod to the Catalan club.
This is not the first time Smit has spoken out openly about his admiration for Barcelona, having previously gone on record about how he follows the team very closely.
As far as his future is concerned, the youngster looks primed to leave AZ this summer, with no shortage of suitors for him. But Barcelona, despite the past links, are unlikely to pursue a move.
Moreover, Smit is likely to cost in excess of €50 million, something that could become unfeasible for the Blaugrana, who are prioritising a move for a new centre-back and striker.
