One of the main objectives of the summer transfer window for FC Barcelona is to strengthen the defensive ranks.
The Blaugrana are particularly looking for a new left-footed centre-back, having parted ways with Inigo Martinez last summer and not replaced him.
Alessandro Bastoni of Inter Milan continues to be the dream target. But he could be out of reach due to multiple factors.
More recently, reports have suggested that Barcelona director Deco continues to admire Manchester City’s Nathan Ake, who was a target during the winter window as well.
Now, it appears that Barça are tracking another left-footed defender from the Premier League.
Indeed, according to journalist Matteo Moretto, Barcelona remain interested in AFC Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi as they see him as a ‘good low-cost option’ for the summer.
The 28-year-old Argentine defender is in the final few months of his contract with the Cherries and appears set to depart as a free agent in the summer.

It makes Senesi a very appealing target for Barça as they would be acquiring a left-footed centre-back in his prime years with a proven pedigree at the highest level for free.
The South American international has been on the La Liga champions’ radars for years now, and they continue to watch him closely as an option for the summer.
However, Senesi is a man in demand in the transfer market, with Moretto reporting that several other clubs are gunning for his signature in the summer.
Indeed, Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are looking at the 28-year-old defender as a target, as are Unai Emery’s Aston Villa outfit.
Meanwhile, Juventus in Italy and Borussia Dortmund in Germany also have him on their shortlist for the summer.
All four clubs are expected to make new contacts with Senesi’s camp to explore the possibility of a move.
So, Barcelona will need to act soon if they wish to rope in the Argentine defender as a reinforcement for next season.
