Angel Alarcon was one of many Barcelona players that left the club last summer, in favour of a move elsewhere.

A product of the famed La Masia youth academy, Alarcon, a winger, joined FC Porto on a free transfer, in an attempt to gain more experience at the highest level of football.

Despite the nature of his move, though, Barcelona managed to retain 50% of the player’s transfer rights – a move that could pay dividends in the month of January.

That is because Angel Alarcon could be set for a return to La Liga, with multiple clubs interested in his services.

According to Record (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Spanish clubs such as Getafe and Mallorca are alerted to Alarcon’s situation and could make a move for him in January.

Their interest in the Spaniard comes on the back of his impressive performances for Porto’s reserve squad.

The youngster has already racked up three goals in nine matches. Although he is yet to make an impact in the first team, his performances in the youth levels have not gone unnoticed.

This could force Porto to make a decision in the upcoming January transfer window. The Portuguese outfit must decide whether to loan him or sell him permanently.

Should Porto decide to sell Alarcon on a permanent deal, Barcelona could stand to gain financially due to the aforementioned clause embedded in his contract.

However, it must be noted that even if Alarcon does leave Porto permanently, the value of the sale is unlikely to be on the higher side.

That is because the Spaniard is yet to make a single competitive appearance for the Porto first team and has a long way to go before he can prove himself at the highest level.
