Barcelona star admits ‘I don’t know if I’ll start’ vs Newcastle | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has admitted that he is completely unaware of whether or not he will start the club’s next outing.

Barcelona are of course primed to return to action on Thursday evening.

A trip to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle United lies in wait, in the respective clubs’ Champions League season opener.

Barca head into the matchup brimming with confidence, fresh off a comprehensive return to winning ways at the expense of Valencia this past weekend.

Changes are nevertheless expected in Hansi Flick’s XI, though.

One area tipped for a shake-up is central defence, where the Blaugrana could opt for their taller, more physical options, in a bid to deal with towering Newcastle frontman Nick Woltemade.

Andreas Christensen, in turn, is one player rumoured to be under consideration for a return to starting duties.

Speaking to the media on the eve of the clash, though, the Danish international admitted:

“I don’t know if I’ll start tomorrow, that’s something you have to ask Hansi. What I can assure you is that I’ll be ready if I’m called upon.”
