FC Barcelona have a crucial match awaiting them in La Liga as they face Atletico Madrid on matchday 28. The two sides are contending for the league title this season, and are separated by only a single point, which makes this tie a highly interesting affair.
Several Blaugrana players have talked about tonight’s game in the build-up to this match. One such player was Gavi, who was fully confident about the Catalan team’s chances of winning this game and praised the Atletico coach, Diego Simeone.
Meanwhile, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Barcelona midfielder also spoke highly of two of his teammates and his coach Hansi Flick in this interview.

One of these two players was his colleague in the midfield, Pedri. Gavi was clear that the Canarian deserves to win the Ballon d’Or this year:
“For me, he deserves to win the Ballon d’Or. I don’t know if he will win it because football changes very quickly, but what Pedri offers us is very important.”
The other teammate of whom he spoke highly was the goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny:
“Szczesny? He’s a great guy. He has positively surprised everyone in the locker room. He’s a very nice person, a good teammate, and helps everyone.”
Similarly, the Barcelona midfielder also expressed his hope of playing under Hansi Flick for a long time:
“Hansi Flick? As a coach, he’s top. He has positively surprised everyone in the locker room. We are very happy with him and hope he stays at Barcelona for a long time.”
As things stand, Gavi is not an automatic starter for Flick this season. However, he is still an important part of the team, and has been getting a lot of minutes since his recovery from the serious ACL tear that kept him out for a significant part of the last and the current seasons on the sidelines.
