Barcelona are planning to part ways with a number of players this summer, but one they want to keep is Ferran Torres. The forward, who scored 21 goals across all competitions last season, is in line to receive a new contract, but before that happens, he would end up joining back-to-back European champions Paris Saint-Germain.

In the last few days, it has been reported that PSG are considering a summer move for Torres, whom they see as an ideal replacement for Bradley Barcola, who is in line to depart – but not to Barcelona. Luis Enrique is a big admirer of the 26-year-old, whom they worked with during his tenure as head coach of the Spanish national team.

The fact that Torres only has a year remaining on his Barcelona contract does open the door for PSG, although Barcelona are clear that they do not want to lose both of their starting centre forwards, with Robert Lewandowski already leaving when his contract expires at the end of this month. However, MD have revealed that he is not aware of the Catalan club’s plans to offer him a new deal in the coming weeks.

The report also notes that Torres is also unaware of PSG’s interest in his services. His full focus is on his involvement with Spain at the 2026 World Cup, which gets underway next week when La Roja take on Cape Verde in their opening match of the tournament.

Tying down Torres to a new deal should be non-negotiable

Barcelona are hoping to secure the services of a new star-studded number nine before the end of the summer, but that should have no impact on Torres’ future. The Spaniard has been a crucial player since Hansi Flick took over as manager, and tying him down to a new contract, which would block PSG’s transfer plans, should be one of their priorities for the coming months.
