With the Ballon d’Or ceremony inching closer, current PSG club chief Luis Campos explained why it’s a no-brainer to pick Dembélé as the winner for this honor.

“Does Ousmane Dembélé have to win the Ballon d’Or? Let me counter your question: If the best player in the league and the Champions League were named Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, would there be any debate?” Campos said on RMC Sport. “If he doesn’t win the Ballon d’Or, then the voters would clearly not be competent to vote for this prestigious trophy.”

Last month, former Barcelona and current Inter Miami midfielder Sergio Busquets shared his thoughts on who should lift the trophy and picked his ex-teammate.

“I have teammates at Barça who would also deserve to win it but I hope Dembélé wins the Ballon d’Or,” Busquets said. “He’s had a great season & has been more consistent. We know the player he is, the differences he makes, what he can do, and hopefully, he can win Ballon d’Or.”
