Barcelona star loses January suitor | OneFootball

Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen has seen one of his leading transfer suitors definitively drop out of the running for his services.

This comes amid the understanding that Aston Villa are no longer interested in bringing the German to the Premier League.

Ter Stegen is of course widely expected to be on the move next month.

After tumbling down the pecking order between the posts in Catalunya’s capital, the 33-year-old requires consistent playing time with a view to next summer’s World Cup.

A number of clubs, in turn, have been credited with a keen interest in Ter Stegen’s signature.

One such outfit come in the form of the aforementioned Aston Villa, who were tipped to swoop for the Blaugrana captain amid fitness concerns surrounding no.1 Emiliano Martínez.

As per a report from Diario Sport, however:

‘The reality is that, at the moment, Aston Villa are not looking for a goalkeeper.’

Ter Stegen will therefore be required to look elsewhere for a new landing spot.
