Barcelona star misses training before Villarreal | OneFootball

A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona was forced to sit out training on Saturday.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards Ronald Araújo as the player in question.

Stopper Araújo was for his part forced into a premature departure from Barcelona’s most recent outing.

Afforded a start in the Blaugrana’s derby meeting with Espanyol on Thursday night, the Uruguayan limped out of proceedings clutching his knee during the 2nd-half.

And Araújo, evidently, is yet to recover from as much.

As per a report from Marca:

‘The Uruguayan center-back finished the match against Espanyol with knee discomfort and therefore did not appear in this afternoon’s session at the Ciutat Esportiva.’

It is therefore concluded that Araújo is ‘almost ruled out’ of Barca’s next outing, a La Liga meeting with Villarreal on Sunday evening.

The 26-year-old, who already spent an extended spell on the sidelines this season through injury, will under no circumstances be risked at Montjuïc.
