Barcelona star misses training with club’s permission | OneFootball

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona was a notable absentee from training on Tuesday morning.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Frenkie de Jong as the player in question.

De Jong, like the rest of Barcelona’s squad, was called up to attend the Ciutat Esportiva earlier today.

As much comes as the Blaugrana shift focus towards their 2nd outing of the La Liga campaign, a meeting with Levante this coming weekend.

As alluded to above, though, whilst the rest of Hansi Flick’s ranks made their way to the club’s training base, De Jong was nowhere to be seen.

And this came for altogether good reason.

As per a report from MD:

‘According to sources close to the player’s entourage, De Jong was absent from the session with the club’s permission. The Dutch midfielder went to a hospital to tend to partner, Mikky Kiemeney, who is expecting their second child.’
