Barcelona star Gavi provided a brilliant response, when drawn on the efforts of those behind the scenes at rivals Espanyol to dampen the club’s La Lige title celebrations on Thursday.
Barca, of course, are fresh off adding to the club’s silverware cabinet once more last night.
After making the short trip across Catalunya to lock horns with neighbours Espanyol, the Blaugrana ultimately emerged 2-0 victors.
As much put Hansi Flick’s troops into an unassailable lead atop the La Liga table, seven points clear of 2nd-placed Real Madrid with two rounds of fixtures to play.
Barcelona have, in turn, been crowned Spanish champions for 2024/25.
Post-match at RCDE Stadium, chaotic celebrations, in turn, were quickly kickstarted on the part of the visiting players and coaching staff alike.
Whilst one side celebrated, though, the other were left utterly dismayed.
Understandably eager to clear their arch rivals off the club’s pitch as soon as possible, Espanyol’s ground staff turned on the sprinklers, soaking Barca’s stars in the process.
Speaking to the media on his way out of the stadium, one such player, in Gavi, was therefore asked whether this gesture bothered he and his teammates.
And the midfielder’s response proved the perfect one:
“No, I liked it more. We were able to celebrate better this way!”
