Barcelona star Gavi was on Sunday afternoon taken to hospital, for a round of medical tests.
This comes owing to the early developments in Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Deportivo Alavés.
Hansi Flick’s troops are currently locked in action on the domestic front, desperate for a three-point haul to close the gap on a Real Madrid outfit fresh off a shock defeat at the hands of Espanyol.
Inside the opening quarter of an hour on Sunday, however, the Blaugrana were dealt a blow.
This came after Gavi was involved in a nasty clash of heads, which culminated in Alavés’ Tomás Conechny being stretchered off.
The former, too, was deemed to be in no fit condition to continue, replaced in Barcelona’s XI by Fermín López as a result.
And, as alluded to above, Gavi was from here swiftly taken to hospital.
As per a report from Barca insider Adrià Albets:
‘Gavi was taken to hospital by ambulance for tests to rule out any serious head injury: he is conscious and well.’
