A headline member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is in line for a return to national team duties with Spain in the next international break.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Gavi as the player in question.
Youngster Gavi is for his part of course fresh off something of a statement performance earlier this week.
Afforded a rare starting berth by Barcelona boss Hansi Flick amid his ongoing efforts to recover full fitness, the 20-year-old dazzled during the Spanish Super Cup semi-finals.
En route to an eventual 2-0 Blaugrana victory over Athletic Club, Gavi opened the scoring, before laying on the assist for Lamine Yamal to put the finishing touches on an important result.
And such endeavours, it is understood, did not go at all unnoticed on the part of the Spanish national team coaching staff.
Buoyed by the return to fitness of a player considered as being the future of La Roja, Sport have confirmed that the expectation is for Luis de la Fuente to afford Gavi a call-up to his next squad of players, in March.
