Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen is hopeful of following the path of Real Madrid counterpart Thibaut Courtois in his ongoing recovery from injury.

Goalkeeper Ter Stegen has for his part of course been sidelined since all the way back in September of last year.

This comes after the German suffered a ruptured patella tendon in his right knee, during Barcelona’s 5-1 La Liga victory over Villarreal.

Ter Stegen has spent the months since in steady recovery, with a view to being fit and available for selection for the start of next season.

If the latest word stemming from Catalunya’s capital is anything to go by, though, then the shot-stopper appears to be ahead of schedule in his comeback.

This comes amid confirmation that Ter Stegen is holding out hope of returning to competitive action before the season is out.

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘Marc-André wants to follow in the footsteps of Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian goalkeeper missed most of the previous season with Madrid with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and a torn meniscus and he returned to play in the last games of La Liga and the final of the Champions League.’
