According to an exclusive report from Jose Alvarez on El Chiringuito, FC Barcelona veteran superstar Robert Lewandowski remains keen on staying put at the club beyond this season.

In order to facilitate that, the 37-year-old striker is prepared to accept a salary that is much lower than his current one.

Lewandowski wants to continue

Barcelona are already beginning to plan for the upcoming transfer windows, with the summer market in focus due to limited options in winter.

One key area for reinforcement has been the forward line, particularly as Lewandowski’s current contract is set to expire on 30 June 2026.

It has been widely suggested that the veteran Pole will move on when the deal runs out, with there being no plans from the club’s side to offer an extension. In fact, replacements are already being identified.

However, sources close to the situation indicate that Lewandowski intends to approach Barcelona for talks, expressing his strong desire to remain at the club.

The former Bayern Munich goalscorer is reportedly willing to accept a significantly reduced salary and understands that his role could become less prominent, potentially as a supporting player rather than the main star.

This decision stems from his personal happiness in the city: he and his family have put down roots in Barcelona, and his wife has established businesses there.

Barcelona, for their part, are said to be open to these discussions, provided the financial terms are substantially lowered.

So far this term, Lewandowski has scored eight goals from 12 La Liga matches, but has not found the back of the net in five appearances in the UEFA Champions League.

With there being no shortage of suitors if he leaves, it remains to be seen how things evolve with Lewandowski and his future at Barcelona.
