For the longest time, it appeared like Bernardo Silva would finally secure his dream move to FC Barcelona this summer.

The Portuguese international had been linked with the Blaugrana for years now, but a transfer never materialised due to several factors.

However, with him becoming a free agent this summer, the stars seemed to be aligned for him to move to the Spotify Camp Nou at last, with an agreement over a two-year deal said to have been finalised.

Silva headed to Real Madrid?

But the situation has taken a drastic turn in recent days as Real Madrid have entered the fray and made a strong move to sign Bernardo.

In fact, according to reliable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Los Blancos are now in advanced talks to sign the Portuguese international on a free transfer.

Real Madrid have already sent a formal contract offer to Silva, who is now being seen as a priority target at the Santiago Bernabeu by incoming manager Jose Mourinho.

Therefore, the Merengues have made their move to sign the versatile playmaker and are confident of beating both Barça and Atletico Madrid to his signing.

Barcelona refuse to improve offer

As reported earlier today, Silva is understood to have increased his salary demands after both Real Madrid and Atletico made a strong push for his transfer in recent days.

Barcelona, however, refused to increase their offer and stood firm on their initial proposal, stating that they do not wish to go overboard for a player who will be a substitute in Hansi Flick’s plans.

This has seemingly paved the way for the former Manchester City captain to lean towards a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
