The last two years have been especially difficult for FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen, who is currently on loan at Girona after sealing a move in the recently closed winter transfer window in search of regular playing time and a fresh start.

However, his spell with the Catalan side has suffered a major setback almost immediately. Ter Stegen picked up an injury in just the second match of his new adventure and has now confirmed that he will have to undergo surgery once again.

As a result, the German international is expected to be sidelined for several months, dealing a heavy blow to both the player and Girona.

Ter Stegen shared the news through an emotional post on social media, where he opened up about the disappointment of being injured just as he was settling into his new surroundings.

The post did not go unnoticed within the Barcelona circle. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, several of Ter Stegen’s former teammates at Barça were quick to publicly show their support.

Frenkie de Jong, Ronald Araujo, Fermin Lopez, Dani Olmo, and Eric Garcia all reacted to the message with heart emojis, a simple but powerful gesture that underlined the strong bond that still exists between the goalkeeper and the Barcelona dressing room.

Despite no longer being part of the squad, Ter Stegen continues to be viewed as a respected and much-loved figure at the club. The reactions from his former teammates reinforce the idea that his influence and relationships at Barça remain intact even during this challenging phase of his career.

In addition to the backing from within Barcelona, Ter Stegen has also received an outpouring of support from Girona fans and football followers in general.

Thousands of messages of encouragement have flooded social media, offering strength to the goalkeeper as he prepares for another long recovery and looks ahead to returning stronger in the future.
