Barcelona’s La Masia academy is a treasure trove of talent, and naturally, clubs across the globe are on the prowl to poach young prospects away from the club.

Only last month, the Blaugrana saw Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez, a player that Hansi Flick trusted for the present and the future, decide to move to Paris Saint-Germain, much to the disappointment of the club.

But not all young talents take that path despite the difficulties involved in breaking into the first-team setup at the club.

Jofre Torrents rejected offers to leave Barcelona

Indeed, according to journalist Roger Arbusa on Catalunya Radio, teenage defender Jofre Torrents turned down multiple offers from clubs in Spain and outside to stay at Barcelona.

As per the report, clubs in Spain and from abroad wanted to sign the La Masia left-back, either on loan or even permanently, but he opted to remain at his boyhood club.

It is further claimed that Flick clearly bets on Torrents, and the belief is that he has a future at the club.

After all, the 18-year-old left-back has become a regular in the first-team dynamics since the pre-season in the summer.

He even made his senior debut for Barça in the La Liga season opener against Mallorca and has played three more times for Flick’s side.

Of late, Torrents has largely been involved with Barça Atletic, for whom he has made 13 appearances this term. But he continues to train with the senior players regularly and is included in squad lists too.

Flick and Barcelona count on Torrents for the future, and the player, too, sees himself at the club which is why he turned down offers to leave.
