On Tuesday, FC Barcelona midfielder Gavi had to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee to treat an injury to the inner meniscus.
During the operation, the decision was made to carry out a suture in order to preserve the meniscus, due to which recovery is estimated at between four and five months.
The 21-year-old tried to avoid surgery, but after intensive conservative treatment, the results indicated that the most advisable solution was an arthroscopy, in order to put an end to the pain in his knee.
It is a bitter blow for Gavi, who had been keen on establishing himself in Hansi Flick’s lineup, but will now be sidelined until next year.
The youngster is understood to be devastated by the setback and will have to rely on his loved ones and teammates to get through this difficult moment.
After the operation, a couple of members of the squad did not hesitate to send him messages of encouragement and support on social media.

One of the first to show support was Marc Bernal, who knows what it is like to go through the same situation as Gavi, having suffered an ACL rupture last year.
The player shared a photo alongside him and wrote: “Stay strong, brother, you can handle everything.”
2025 Ballon d’Or runner-up and Kopa Trophy winner Lamine Yamal also did not forget to send Gavi a touching message, as he wrote:
“My warrior, I have no doubt that you will soon return to being the best, like you have always been. Nothing can stop you, we are all waiting for you. Great strength to you, I love you very much.”

From the club’s official account, a message was also shared, which read: “Always with you, Gavi! You will come back stronger.”
Hansi Flick also offered support to the 21-year-old midfielder during his press conference earlier today, while Spain manager Luis de la Fuente and director Aitor Karanka also reportedly reached out to the player to lift up his spirits.
