Barcelona ‘to consider’ €25m Jhon Lucumi as Alessandro Bastoni alternative | OneFootball

Barcelona have made little secret of their interest in Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni, who remains their priority to strengthen the backline this summer. Director of football Deco is preparing alternatives in case a deal proves impossible amid budget uncertainty.

Il Resto del Carlino reports that Barcelona are looking at Colombian centre-back Jhon Lucumi as a possible fallback. The Bologna defender could be allowed to leave for around €25m with a year left on his contract.

Bournemouth and Sunderland are also looking at Lucumi, with Sunderland having made a move last year. In Türkiye, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are said to be interested. The breadth of names suggests an early-stage picture that may reflect agent activity.

Barcelona were first linked with the 27-year-old in 2024, and Atletico Madrid have also been mentioned within the past year. Left-footed and quick, Lucumi came through Deportivo Cali before a €2.5m switch to KRC Genk in 2018, then joined Bologna for €8m four years ago.

As Bologna have progressed into Europe, winning the Coppa Italia, his stock has risen. He is a regular in Colombia squads with 35 caps.
