La Liga champions Barcelona intend to dedicate the club’s next outing to a sidelined member of Hansi Flick’s squad.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Gavi as the player in question.
Youngster Gavi is for his part of course in the midst of a hugely challenging week from a mental standpoint.
As much comes after the 21-year-old was forced back under the knife.
In a bid to resolve ongoing pain in the knee in which he previously suffered an ACL tear, Barcelona and Gavi agreed that the best route forward was surgery.
The initial expectation, in turn, was that the Spanish international would be sidelined for a period of four to six weeks.
Further problems discovered during the procedure, however, saw it later confirmed that Gavi will in fact be unavailable for four to five months.
The news is understood to have hit the midfielder – one of the most passionate in all of Spanish football – hard.
Gavi’s teammates will therefore move to lift his spirits later this evening.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have revealed that, against Real Oviedo on Thursday:
‘His teammates will remember Gavi with a special shirt and, hopefully, a dedicated victory.’
