FC Barcelona have as many as four players in their squad whose current contracts stand to expire at the end of the season.

Indeed, Frenkie de Jong, Eric Garcia, Andreas Christensen, and Robert Lewandowski all have contracts that will run out on 30 June, 2026.

Of the four, the Blaugrana are already working to renew the contracts of De Jong and Garcia, while there is no plan to offer Christensen an extension.

Decision on Lewandowski will be made at a later stage

As for Lewandowski, according to a report from AS, Barcelona do not see the veteran striker’s situation as an urgent one.

As such, the La Liga champions do not intend to make a final decision on his contract situation until much later.

While the idea of a renewal is not entirely ruled out, it would only be considered if his performances justify it. After all, the Poland captain will be touching 38 years old by the time the next season kicks off.

Lewandowski, this season, already seems to be taking a secondary role behind Ferran Torres, who has started the campaign strongly.

So much so that, the Blaugrana are considering having him as their main centre-forward from 2026 and not spending heavily on a new signing in the position.

In that scenario, the possibility of renewing Lewandowski’s contract for another season, for him to operate as a backup, could become a possibility.

Another factor which could play a role in Lewandowski’s future is the interest from Saudi Arabia. The 37-year-old goalscorer rejected a lucrative offer from the Middle East this summer, but might not be able to turn away from the temptation once again in 2026.

However, any decision regarding Lewandowski and his contract will not be made anytime soon.
