Recently, there has been considerable discussion surrounding the goalkeeping situation at Barcelona and according to journalist Helena Condis, the club has made the decision to seek a replacement for Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

In fact, the Blaugrana are actively engaging in conversations with several available goalkeepers and do not intend to wait until the winter transfer window to make a move contrary to the previous argument.

With Ter Stegen sidelined for the remainder of the season, Barcelona have been evaluating their options for the future. Initially, the club considered relying on Inaki Pena to assess his performance until January before making any decisions.

However, it appears that these plans have changed, prompting Barcelona to search for a replacement immediately.

There are details to chalk out

At present, there are a few potential candidates for the goalkeeping position, including Claudio Bravo, Keylor Navas, and Wojciech Szczesny. However, as of now, no definitive choice has been made.

Right now, Barcelona face a 30-day window to secure a replacement goalkeeper, in accordance with La Liga regulations, as the club can only register a new player if the injury suffered is expected to last for a similar duration or longer than the time already missed.

In practical terms, this means that Barcelona can utilize 80% of Ter Stegen’s salary to sign a replacement goalkeeper who is currently without a club.

This transfer window will close on October 22, which means that if the club does not act swiftly, they will miss the chance to bring in a new goalkeeper under these specific circumstances.

With time running out, it will be interesting to see how Barcelona approaches this situation and who they might bring in to fill the crucial role in goal.

The urgency of the matter underscores the importance of making a timely decision to ensure the team remains competitive during Ter Stegen’s absence.
