Barcelona wonderkid the favourite to win the Kopa Trophy at Ballon d’Or gala – report | OneFootball

According to information obtained by Mundo Deportivo, Lamine Yamal is the leading favourite to win the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or Gala, which will take place this evening in Paris.

The Barça wonderkid is also a strong contender to become the youngest ever winner of the most prestigious award of the night, which crowns the best player in the world for the 2024/25 season.

Lamine is the reigning Kopa Trophy winner, an award created in 2018 and previously won by his teammates Pedri in 2021 and Gavi in 2022 as the best players under 21.

The Barcelona winger is one of ten nominees, alongside Pau Cubarsi, as well as Desire Doue (PSG), who is expected to finish second in the voting, Real Madrid’s Dean Huijsen, Joao Neves, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Estevao, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Rodrigo Mora, and Kenan Yildiz.

Meanwhile, the report states that Barça Femeni’s Vicky Lopez is the frontrunner to win the women’s Kopa Trophy prize.

Lopez, 19, is one of the five nominees for the inaugural women’s edition of the award. She is competing against Linda Caicedo, Michelle Agyemang, Wieke Keptein, and Claudia Martínez Obando.

The Kopa Trophy is decided by a distinguished jury composed exclusively of former Ballon d’Or winners.
