Barcelona travel to Inter Milan for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie tonight.
The semi-final is perfectly poised after an enthralling first meeting last week. The sides played out an all-time Champions League classic in a pulsating 3-3 draw in Spain.
Barcelona secured the first leg of their potential treble after beating Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final last weekend, before maintaining their lead in the title race with a 2-1 win at Real Valladolid on Saturday. The Catalans are now bidding to reach the Champions League final for the first time in a decade.
Inter’s own treble dream ended last month after defeat to AC Milan in the Coppa Italia semi-finals. That loss was one of three consecutive defeats for Inter, who are three points behind Napoli in Serie A. However, last weekend’s draw with Barcelona was followed by an important win over Verona. Home advantage could make Simeone Inzaghi’s side favourites to reach a second Champions League final in three seasons.
Robert Lewandowski has recovered from a hamstring injury and been included in Barcelona’s squad for the second leg. However, it remains to be seen whether the Poland international is passed fit to start. Left-back Alejandro Balde has not recovered in time and will not feature, joining Marc Casado and Marc Bernal on the sidelines.
Hansi Flick has confirmed that Wojciech Szczesny will continue in goal despite the return of first-choice Marc-Andre ter Stegen from injury.
Inter Milan host Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday 6th May 2025. Kick-off at the San Siro is 20:00 BST.
