Barcelona youngster has no intention of leaving the club in January window | OneFootball

Over the past few days, there have been some speculations surrounding the immediate future of FC Barcelona midfield starlet Marc Bernal.

The 18-year-old academy graduate has found minutes extremely hard to come by since returning from an ACL injury back in September.

As such, it was suggested that the Catalans would open the doors to a loan exit for him this month if the player asked to leave in search of regular minutes.

Bernal wants to stay

However, as per the latest update from Mundo Deportivo, Bernal’s immediate plan is to stay at Barcelona.

The minutes he played against Racing Santander in the Copa del Rey Round of 16 were interpreted by the player as a clear message that manager Hansi Flick counts on him for the rest of the season.

The academy graduate has seen his share of minutes gradually increase in recent months. Against Racing, he played for an hour for the first time.

Bernal seemed so physically drained that Flick decided it was better to substitute him due to fatigue. Even so, the amount of time he was given was highly significant for the midfielder.

Now, Bernal has no intention of leaving the Spotify Camp Nou and therefore does not consider accepting an offer from Girona or any other club, unless Barcelona explicitly ask him to do so.

As of now, the Catalans have not made such a request nor communicated any such intention.

Bernal recently renewed his contract with Barcelona until 2029 and does not envisage a departure. He has received offers from several European clubs, but his intention is not to listen to any of them.
