Barcelona youngster set for starting debut vs Sevilla | OneFootball

An up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona is expected to be afforded his first ever start for the club on Sunday.

The player in question? Xavi Espart.

The name of youngster Espart has of course emerged as a prominent one in the chatter surrounding Barcelona this week.

This comes after the young Spaniard was introduced off the bench for his senior bow in Blaugrana colours.

En route to a last-gasp 1-1 draw against Newcastle United in the Champions League, Espart thoroughly impressed across a short cameo at right-back.

And if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then such efforts look set to be rewarded by Hanis Flick this weekend.

As per a report from journalist Nacho Jimenez:

‘Xavi Espart has all the makings of being a starter against Sevilla. Due to the defensive absences and his strong minutes in Newcastle, he’s set to start the match on the right flank.’
