Overrun by a fired-up Bastia, Saint-Étienne fell meekly in Corsica, a collective failure no individual could avert.

Le Cardinal was arguably the only one to meet the standard, aside from a misjudged touch at 90+4. In a defence clearly implicated in the two goals conceded, he did what he could to stem the waves. He often succeeded against the thrusts of Zaouai and Tomi, then against Eickmayer on 79 minutes.

He even looked to carry a threat of his own, driving forward down the right, but it brought nothing.

Among the flops, Cardona got almost everything wrong and endured a rough night.
