The German champions showed plenty of quality and mental fortitude to come from behind and snatch a point, while two of their goals were disallowed.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich: Match report

Leverkusen made a strong start and shocked the visitors early when Aleix Garcia opened the scoring with a right-footed shot from the right side following a fast break that took a deflection off Jonathan Tah, leaving Sven Ulreich no chance of saving that.

Gradually Bayern grew into the game, and Nicolas Jackson’s effort was saved by Blaswich, after Michael Olise found in the box with a clever pass.

From a corner, Jonathan Tah guided the ball into the net against his former club, but the celebration was cut short after a VAR check. The footage showed that the ball had first touched his arm, and the goal was ruled out.

In the 43rd minute of the game, Bayern suffered a big blow after Nicolas Jackson was shown the marching orders following a tackle on Martin Terrier. Initially, he was given a yellow card, but after a VAR check, the decision was reversed, and he was given a red card.

In the second half, down to 10 men, Bayern nearly got the goal they wanted, but Luis Diaz slipped inside the box to miss a glorious opportunity after doing all the hard work.

Moments later, Patrik Schick played out a lovely, delicate pass in the path of Malik Tillman to set him free on goal. The former Bayern player could not guide past Ulreich with his left-footed effort.

Harry Kane replaced Lennart Karl, and within a minute, he tapped in from close range to level the tie. However, after a VAR check, the goal was ruled out as the ball struck Kane’s arm in the build-up to the goal.

It did not take long for Bayern to equalise, though. This time, Luis Diaz made no mistakes and scored his 15th league goal of the season. Olise was the architect behind the goal, and the Frenchman registered his 17th Bundesliga assist of the season.

In the 83rd minute, Bayern thought they would get a penalty after Diaz was touched in the box by the Leverkusen goalie. However, Diaz, who was already booked earlier, was shown another yellow for a con act, although it appeared that there was indeed a touch from the goalkeeper.

In the dying seconds of the match, Jonas Hofmann thought he had scored the winner for Leverkusen, but the goal was ruled out as offside.

Bayern held their nerves and picked up a crucial point.
