Sky Germany reports that Bayer Leverkusen are close to sealing a deal for Hertha BSC prodigy Kennet Eichhorn, 16, following talks with the player’s representatives.
A meeting with Leverkusen officials is said to have taken place, and the defensive midfielder can be signed via a release clause thought to be around €12m.
It is widely viewed as a near-certainty that Eichhorn will leave his hometown club this summer. His estimated value has almost quadrupled from €6m to €20m since debuting for Hertha’s senior side this season. Leverkusen hope to mirror last summer’s capture of Ibrahim Maza from the capital club.
Unlike Maza, Eichhorn would not be asked to contribute immediately in the Bundesliga. The plan includes a loan back to Hertha for 2026/27 to aid a steadier development, and he is currently recovering from a syndesmotic ankle injury.
The teenager is regarded as one of Europe’s most coveted prospects, with links to Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal FC. Bayern Munich have also held talks with his entourage, offering the chance to work on the FCB campus.
A switch to Leverkusen, then a season back at Hertha, could suit all sides. Maza’s early progress at Leverkusen offers a persuasive precedent, and staying in Berlin for another year would keep continuity. Whether Eichhorn moves quickly remains to be seen.
