Le Phocéen reports that Bayer Leverkusen have emerged as a potential destination for 27-year-old Facundo Medina and that talks with Marseille are at an early stage.
The link comes a week after his strong World Cup final display, when he came on for ten-man Argentina in an extra-time defeat to Spain.
A centre-back by trade at club level, Medina was largely used at left-back by Lionel Scaloni during the tournament, aside from the match against Spain.
Marseille signed him permanently from RC Lens for €20 million after an initial loan, and are expected to seek at least to recoup that investment.
The 14-time Argentina international has made 164 Ligue 1 appearances for Lens and Marseille, and played 10 times in the Champions League.
Both Marseille and Bayer Leverkusen missed out on Champions League qualification in their respective leagues.
His Argentina team-mate Exequiel Palacios is currently at Leverkusen, although he was linked with a move to RB Leipzig at the end of last week.
