The rumours surrounding Nathaniel Brown’s move to FC Bayern continue to gather pace. According to consistent media reports, Munich have already reached an agreement in principle with the German international. Now the 22-year-old has commented on the speculation himself for the first time – and sent a remarkable signal in the process

According to information from Sky and BILD, talks between FC Bayern and Brown are at an advanced stage , with a verbal agreement already in place for a contract until 2031. Contacts between the two clubs‘ managers are also in full swing

Chief Sports Officer Max Eberl is reportedly in direct contact with Frankfurt’s Chief Sports Officer Markus Krösche. Munich’s aim is clear: the transfer should be completed as quickly as possible – ideally before the start of the 2026 World Cup

Brown avoids making a clear commitment

When asked about the latest reports, however, Brown deliberately kept a low profile: „I’m fully focused on the World Cup. That’s why I won’t be commenting on that today. The focus is fully on the World Cup, which I’m looking forward to,“ explained the left-back at the DFB media roundtable on Thursday

A clear denial sounds different, but it rather seems as if the national player does not want to comment publicly on the ongoing talks without fundamentally questioning the reporting

The role of Vincent Kompany is particularly interesting, as the Bayern coach is said to be one of the biggest internal supporters of Brown’s signing

According to BILD, Kompany already wanted to sign the full-back during his time at Burnley FC, but Brown opted for a move from Nuremberg to Eintracht Frankfurt at the time

Now the collaboration could come to fruition after all

The biggest sticking point, however, remains the transfer fee, with Markus Krösche reportedly still demanding around 65 million euros for the international

This demand is understandable from the point of view of the Hessians: Brown has developed into a top performer in Frankfurt in a very short space of time, made the leap into the German national team and is regarded as one of the most exciting left-backs in Europe

For Eintracht, a sale would also be a financial hit, having only signed the player from 1 FC Nuremberg for around three million euros at the start of 2024

Whether Munich are prepared to invest a sum of this magnitude remains to be seen, but it is clear that Brown is seen internally as a strategically important transfer

With his dynamism, versatility and development potential, he fits Kompany’s requirement profile perfectly and could also take on an important role on the left flank in the long term

The coming weeks should show whether Bayern and Frankfurt can come to terms on the transfer fee, but Brown’s statements suggest that a move to Munich is a serious option for the DFB star.
