Crucial days lie ahead at FC Bayern Munich as the Bundesliga champions push to finalise a contract extension with Dayot Upamecano, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenburg. Bayern’s senior decision-makers — Max Eberl, Christoph Freund, and Jan-Christian Dreesen – are reportedly highly confident that an agreement will be reached. Talks are said to be progressing positively, with optimism growing inside the club that Upamecano will commit his long-term future to the Allianz Arena. While the finer details of the proposed deal are still being finalised, an exit option or release clause is very likely to be included in the new contract. Foot Mercato reported last month that Bayern reached a breakthrough in their efforts to renew the Frenchman’s contract.Upamecano is entering the final months of the five-year contract he signed in 2021 after joining Bayern from RB Leipzig. His situation has put several major European clubs — including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain — on alert, although Bayern have consistently believed they could convince the defender to remain at the Allianz Arena.A regular for France, Upamecano has earned over 45 caps for Les Bleus since making his senior debut in 2020. He was part of Didier Deschamps’ squads for Euro 2020, the 2022 World Cup, and Euro 2024. He looks set to be joining Les Bleus this summer at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA. GFFN | George Boxall
