The future of Luis Diaz has been a major headline amongst Liverpool’s busy summer transfer window. There has been interest from Saudi Arabia, Barcelona and more recently Bayern Munich, who have been forced into action after Jamal Musiala’s long-term injury.
Vincent Kompany’s side have submitted multiple offers to sign the Colombian this summer, ranging from £50-60million but Liverpool are yet to budge on their £75million valuation.
According to Alex Crook, via Anfield Edition, the Bundesliga champions are ready to launch their final attempt to sign the 28-year-old with a £70million offer.
“BREAKING: @alex_crook: Bayern are likely to drop their pursuit of Luis Diaz if Liverpool decline their impending £70m offer.”
It’s yet to be seen if this is a tactical move from the German giants to pressurize Liverpool into a deal or whether this is really the furthest they’re willing to go in negotiations. It’s yet to be seen if Liverpool will accept the offer, with the player pushing for a move to Bayern Munich this summer.
With just two years remaining on his current deal at Anfield, you get the sense that a £70million move would make a lot of sense for both parties. However, eyebrows have been raised at Bayern Munich’s four-year proposal to Diaz, which includes hefty wages that will keep him at the club until he turns 32.
Either way, you can expect this deal to be concluded over the next few days regardless of the outcome.
There’s two names that just won’t go away this summer. One is Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, who has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish capital. We exclusively revealed back in May that Liverpool had made contact with the Brazilian’s agents and that contact has maintained in the recent months.
A final decision on Rodrygo’s future is yet to be made, but Liverpool would certainly be the favourites to land the forward should he move on this summer.
Another name is Olympique Lyon’s Malick Fofana, who Liverpool have also held direct talks with. A move for the Belgian would likely cost around £50million this summer, but it remains to be seen if he has the quality to immediately step into Diaz’s shoes on the left-hand side.
