While Kompany’s sole focus in matters on the pitch, Bayern’s decision makers have plenty of tasks on their plate.

They are already planning for the pre-season. Bayern are a massive club, with a huge fan following, and pre-seasons are not only meant to keep players in proper physical shape but also to grow their brand image.

In the past decade or so, top teams regularly come to Asian countries to play games. Top European clubs now look to tap into the huge football craze in Asian countries, which not only yields revenue but also helps build PR and global image.

Christian Falk have told CFBayern that Bayern are currently in negotiations to play a friendly match in Hong Kong in August 2026.

South Korea and Thailand are being considered as potential second host countries for pre-season friendlies on this Asia Tour.

Great move from Bayern?

The likes of Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, and even Singapore have huge fan bases of top European clubs, and Bayern are definitely one of them.

While Premier League clubs mainly aim to capture those markets, it is high time for other German clubs to join Bayern and gain popularity in Asian countries.

This is also a great opportunity for fans from all over the world to come and see the likes of Harry Kane, Luis Diaz and Jamal Musiala during the pre-season.
