Four Bayern Munich players are one booking from suspension as they prepare to face Real Madrid in Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg at the Allianz Arena.

Manuel Neuer, Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah and Konrad Laimer would miss the first leg of a potential semi-final if cautioned, according to BuLi News.

Speaking on Tuesday, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany said the current disciplinary rules may need a rethink, noting that a one-match ban follows three yellow cards accrued before the semi-finals.

He said it is difficult to navigate European knockout ties without suspensions, argued the threshold is too harsh, and suggested it could be looked at next year. He added it was not an issue for today.

Bayern hold a 2-1 advantage from the first game at the Bernabeu going into the return.
