Bayern Steps Up the Pressure: Zaragoza Must Find a New Club | OneFootball

Bryan Zaragoza was most recently considered one of the top candidates for a transfer at FC Bayern. Now, however, it appears that the Spaniard wasn’t necessarily eager to leave after all. Instead, the attacking player returned to Munich hoping to still establish himself under Vincent Kompany. Bayern officials, however, quickly dashed those hopes.

It’s been no secret—at least since the statements by sporting director Max Eberl—that Zaragoza no longer has a future with the record champions. Along with João Palhinha and Sacha Boey, the 24-year-old is among the players expected to leave the club this summer if possible.

According to Sky, however, Zaragoza initially had very different plans.

Zaragoza wanted to impress Kompany

According to the report, the Spanish winger was not initially actively pursuing a club transfer. Nor are there said to have been any concrete talks with potential suitors so far.

Rather, Zaragoza returned to Säbener Straße a few days ago with the intention of earning a new chance under Vincent Kompany. According to Sky, the Spaniard saw himself as a backup for new signing Luis Díaz on the left wing.

However, that hope was quickly dashed. Bayern officials reportedly made it clear to Zaragoza and his management once again immediately after his return that he does not play a role in the team’s sporting plans.

Injury Complicates a Solution

Max Eberl has also recently ramped up the pressure on the players slated for transfer in public. At the training camp on Lake Tegernsee, Bayern’s sporting director said of Zaragoza, Palhinha, and Boey: “If they stay, they know they won’t play a role!”

To make matters worse for Zaragoza, he is currently suffering from knee inflammation and is therefore training individually at Säbener Straße. The attacking player is currently unable to play and cannot showcase his abilities for other clubs, either in training or in friendly matches.

According to Sky, a departure before the end of the transfer window remains possible. Zaragoza continues to enjoy a good reputation, particularly in Spain, and has an attractive market.

However, a permanent transfer is likely to prove difficult. For one thing, his current injury is deterring potential suitors. For another, the Spaniard is earning a salary at FC Bayern that few clubs can afford.

For the Munich club, this situation is thus becoming an increasing challenge. Now, both sides must find a solution in the coming weeks that serves the sporting and financial interests of all parties involved.
