Yesterday we reported on the news that there is a new potential exit route for Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea, and today there’s further information on that front.

Bayern Munich have been the most strongly linked team to the attacker so far, but there still seems to be no concrete bid coming from them. That has led to speculation about another Bundesliga team getting in the mix.

The reports yesterday were that RB Leipzig and Chelsea were considering some form of swap deal. Chelsea want Xavi Simons from the Saxon club, who are keen to resign their former player Nkunku. The Blues would send over something like £30m cash as well as Nkunku to balance the deal.

As swaps often do, it sounds a little fantastical. But today’s reporting on it from all sides is that it could be a possibility. Nizaar Kinsella of the BBC says that Nkunku is just one of several players offered by Chelsea as they try to reduce the cash cost of Simons.

Nkunku willing to return to former team if terms of deal are right

There’s more to it than just finding who Leipzig want, as well. Yesterday we noted that we would first need to find out if Nkunku was willing to make the move – according to the Athletic’s report today, he would be.

Perhaps it’s the lack of interest from other places, or perhaps he just wants to leave and play regularly. Either way, it seems like the 27 year old is willing to at least consider it. He had great success with Leipzig the first time around, which earned him his Chelsea move, but it would feel like something of a backward step at this stage.
