PSG secured the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday after a come-from-behind win on penalties over Tottenham Hotspur. Moreover, one pundit believes that this result could affect the Premier League club.

It was all Spurs in the first half. The English side jumped out to a 1-0 lead right before halftime thanks to a goal from Micky van de Ven. From a long-range free kick, Marquinhos was off balance and couldn’t clear. Lucas Chevalier deflected João Palhinha’s first shot onto the post, but Van de Ven followed up to finish from close range.

Tottenham then took a 2-0 lead off a goal from Cristian Romero. The Argentine was left unmarked on a long free kick as he rose alone at the far post. Chevalier was caught by the bounce and failed to clear the ball, which ended up in the far corner.

Spurs had this trophy in their grasp, but then the wheels fell off. The Parisians scored two late unanswered goals, with the first coming from Kang-in Lee. The back-and-forth attack finally paid off for the Parisians. Just outside the box, Lee unleashed an unstoppable cross-shot that pierced Guglielmo Vicario.

On the second goal, Achraf Hakimi played the ball down the right before Ousmane Dembélé delivered a driven cross into the box, where Gonçalo Ramos dived in. The Portuguese forward powered home a superb header.

BBC Sport’s Paul Robinson weighed in on what transpired in the loss to Tottenham and whether it will have a lingering impact.

“I think this will be damaging for Tottenham, I really do,” Robinson said. “They were 2-0 up with five minutes to go. You can see now the players are stood on the pitch separately in little huddles and on their own. They are absolutely devastated. They got the trophy that they had been longing for last season and this could have been a real step forward for Tottenham. Instead it’s a real blow.”
