Jude Bellingham believes Harry Kane can win the Ballon d'Or but hopes Real Madrid can stop the Bayern Munich forward this evening.
Real Madrid travel to Germany to face Bayern Munich in the second leg of theirChampions League quarter-final. The Spanish side trail 2-1 on aggregate after defeat last week, with Kane scoring the decisive goal at the Bernabeu.
Kane is the leading scorer in European football this season and has netted 49 goals across all competitions. The 32-year-old's form has made him a frontrunner for the Ballon d'Or, an award no Englishman has won since 2001.
Bellingham plays alongside Kane for England and hopes the forward can take his free-scoring form into this summer's World Cup.
However, the Real Madrid midfielder is hopeful his team can find a plan to stop Kane tonight. Asked whether he thinks Kane can win theBallon d'Or, Bellingham said the forward's chances will hinge on his success with club and country.
“Whether he can win the Ballon d’Or depends on what the team does. He’s a fantastic player," Bellingham said at a pre-match press conference.
"I think they’re going to win the Bundesliga, even though it pains me for my brother’s sake. I’m proud to have him in the national team; he’s shown just how good he is.
"It’s a pleasure to watch him play. Let’s see if he can carry this form into the World Cup. I hope he doesn’t turn up tomorrow, or that we manage to stop him.”
